Posco to promote new non-nickel stainless steel

Posco, the largest steelmaker in South Korea, has developed a new stainless steel graded POS445NF which is claimed a non-free nickel product and equivalent to 304 stainless steel, announced an official from Posco on Wednesday .
The target sales of this new stainless steel will be around 2,000 tons per year initially from the third quarter of this year, and then raised up to 10,000 tons next year, the official added.
The new stainless steel can be a good substitute for nickel containing stainless steel products, which price is 50 percent lower.
Posco's stainless steel output in 2006 was 1.8 million tons, including 1.26 million tons of grade 304.
